Your New Tattoo

Once your tattoo is complete, there will be some minor bleeding for about 15-20 minutes. You should keep the blood from settling on the fresh tattoo by blotting the area with a clean towel. Once you get home apply a hot towel on the tattoo or take a shower.

Make sure the water doesn't burn you! This will help set the ink and prevent any unnecessary scabbing. Some scabbing is normal but DO NOT PICK OR PEEL OFF ANY SCABS Picking at your tattoo will pull ink out and leave light spots. Do not submerge your tattoo in water (i.e. no hot tubs, swimming pools, and baths). However it is necessary to keep your tattoo clean. Take a shower regularly to keep the area clean. Use a mild antibacterial soap and massage gently with finger tips and rinse thoroughly. Blot dry (DO NOT RUB DRY! This could pull out scabs) with a towel and apply topical ointment. Curel Ultra-Healing Lotion is recommended for your tattoo, apply 3-5 times a day and massage into your tattoo until it is no longer visible. Be sure to massage it in gently to avoid pulling off any loose scabs.

Too much lotion can damage your tattoo, take care in applying the proper amount. After the first two weeks you may choose to use lotion to keep the colors vibrant and also spf when you are in the sun.
